TAHAL was established in 1952 by the government of Israel with the aim of meeting the country’s greatest challenge – transforming its arid lands into fertile fields. After planning and designing the country’s renowned National Water Carrier, TAHAL was appointed National Consultant to the Water and Sewage Authority, to the Municipal Water Administration, and to the National Sewerage Project.
Initially focusing on the development of natural water resources and irrigation systems, TAHAL has moved to the design and construction of sophisticated projects utilizing brackish water, recycled wastewater and desalinated seawater. Israel’s largest engineering firm, TAHAL is also involved in solid waste management and the development of the country’s offshore natural gas resources.
