The site, which was approved in the framework of the National Master Plan for Waste Disposal (TAMA 16), is located in a phosphate mining region.
The study included:
• Description of the site environs.
• Hydrogeological and geological description of the area.
• Examination of existing air quality at the site.
• Examination of existing noise levels in and around the site.
• Study of existing and planned land uses, as well as natural resources, landscape and archaeological activities.
• Investigation of transport facilities.
• Description of phosphate mining activities.
• Description of proposed activities at the site.
• Examination of alternative sites, including
boundaries, access roads and transport.
• Formulation of recommendations for exact site
location, development of access roads for different
forms of transport (rail and road) and
interdependency between projected landfill and
mining activities.
